Zampa ORCA Marathon Relay Race

Started in 2004 this team relay race has seen great participation over the last few years. Taking place in the beautiful Zampa area the race starts at Misaki Park, giving runners a chance to enjoy great scenery while getting exercise and having some healthy competition.

The Zampa ORCA Marathon Relay Race has two different competitions to take part in. The first is designed to be a fun relay focusing more on participation and having a good day out. This fun race consists of teams of six runners cover a distance of 24 km and the entrance fee is only 6,000 yen per team. Each team in the fun race must also have one female runner or one male participant over 60 years of age.

The other race of the day is geared towards more serious competitors and consists of teams of 8 runners covering a distance of 33 km with an entrance fee of 10,000 yen per team. The race format is as follows:

1st runner: 3.0km female
2nd runner: 6.0km male over 35yrs old
3rd runner: 3.0km male over 50yrs old
4th runner: 6.0km male over 30yrs old
5th runner: 3.0km male over 55yrs old
6th runner: 3.0km female
7th runner: 6.0km male
8th runner: 3.0km male over 40yrs old

Both Races are fun and challenging and not expensive, if you and 6-8 of your friends can scrape together a few thousand yen each it is a worthy challenge to take part in the Okinawa spring.
