Yagaji beach, Nago city Okinawa

Looking for a secluded beach in Okinawa but not sure you can do without a few amenities? Take a drive north past Motobu and you’ll find Yagaji Island. Yagaji Beach has great views of the Haneji Inland Sea across from Motobu's north shore as well as wonderful scenes of the East China Sea. Facilities at this Okinawa beach include showers, toilets, camp grounds, and even a small store.

The admission is ¥500, so the fee and the bit of a drive it takes to get to this beach keep the crowds away. This Okinawa beach is wide with a grassy area just beyond the sand, perfect for a picnic, a game of Frisbee or a roll on the grass if you so desire.

If you want to explore Yagaji Island, go canoeing or visit the mangrove observatory. The island is the wintering site of many shorebirds and a great place for nature photography. From Highway 58, you'll take the bridge at Highway 110, cross Oyama Island, and then cross a second bridge to Yagaji Island.
