Sunayama Beach Miyakojima Island, Okinawa Japan

The symbol of Sunayama Beach is its arch shaped rock formed by centuries of crashing waves cutting a natural gate into the coral wall. This arch is know by many all over Okinawa and Japan and tends to be the image most recognized when someone mentions a beach on Miyako-jima Island. Besides the arch Sunayama Beach is known for its fine white powdery sand and stunning emerald green waters.

Sunayama Beach is located only 4km from Miyako-jima Island’s main city of Hirara it is a popular beach with locals and tourist, yet it never really seems crowded. Marine sport equipment is available from a rental service or feel free to lay in the sand and soak up the beauty of the location.
