Sakima Art Museum, Ginowan Okinawa

Sakima Art Museum, ginowan city

In an effort to make sure history doesn't repeat itself, Sakima Art Museum was opened to vividly depict the harsh reality of war. This Okinawa art museum has several themes closely related to each other "Human and War," "Life and Death," "Agony and Relief," and the very important exhibit on the Battle of Okinawa.

Opened on November 23, 1994 by Michio Sakima in an effort to convey his message of world peace. The extensive collection at this Ginowan museum features works by Georges-Henri Rouault, Toshi and Iri Maruki, Kathe Kollwitz, Makoto Ueno, and many more extraordinary artists that follow the theme of the museum.
