Yukishio Salt Factory, Miyakojima, Okinawa Japan

Recognized by the Guinness Book of Records for producing “salt that contains the most mineral element varieties.” Yukishio Salt Factory offers tours by full time guides. You will get a chance to see how they extract the salt from the Ryukyu limestone where it was deposited over 50,000 years ago.

The Yukishio Salt Factory has an annex shop that sells salt and salt products and a large fish tank where ocean fish swim in a salt and tap water solution. The factory is located near Nishi-henna Cape, Ikema Island and Miyakojima’s horse ranch, making it easy to stop by and see this interesting part of Miyakojima Island’s culture and industry while sightseeing at all the other beautiful near by attractions.
