Kumejima Yacht Race, Okinawa Japan

This prestigious race starts from Ginowan Port on the main Okinawa Island and finishes at Kumejima Island’s Kanegusuku Port. The exciting event takes place on a 55 mile course over beautiful waters where humpbacked whales, sea turtles, and dolphins can often be seen. The night before the race there is a big party at “Resort Hotel Kume Island” starting at sunset. Basic requirements to enter the race are a 30 foot Yacht equipped with a ham radio.
