Ishigaki Yaima Village, Okinawa Japan

Called Ishigaki Yaima Village as of October 2008, this is a great place to go to experience some real Ryukyu culture. The village is an authentic replica of a Yeayama Island style village as it would have been before modern influences, complete with live animals roaming about.

At this Okinawan historical site there are many activities to partake in for the whole family partake in. Regular live performances like Eisa, bon dancing, and lion dances take place daily. Besides the performances visitors to Ishigaki Yaima Village can take a walk in the forest to interact with some local monkeys, food can be purchased to hand feed the creatures adding to this unique experience.
