I'm interested in living and working in Okinawa. I'm currently in the United States. I was born in Okinawa but have lived in the US for most of life. I have been to Okinawa to visit family but would now like to make it permanant. I don't want to burden my relatives so I would like to make the move independently. Anyone have suggestions as to how to find jobs and live in Okinawa? I am college educated and have much professional experience.  Thanks for any help!

Yes. I would have to say that is very true.. You have to know your Japanese to get a job in Japan . Without it you won't have much luck .. Plus, how would you communicate with the other Japanese employees and customers.?

I've heard that there are many companies start looking for English speaking staff as there are many foreign tourist coming to Okinawa now and not many people can speak English fluently.

If you speak Japanese a bit it will help.

The first question I would have to ask is do you speak Japanese?

This is a really big factor in getting a job on Okinawa and if you do it will open many doors of oppertunity.
