Ocean Expo Park All Japan Trim Marathon

In a “trim marathon” prizes go to those who come closest to their predicted finishing time. In Okinawa this type of race is quite popular. All watches are banned and distance markers are kept to a minimum (in the 19.2K, a 10K marker and a "4K remaining" marker; in the 5.8K, no markers at all). Okinawa Ocean Expo Park All Japan Trim Marathon slogan is "Slow runners are the stars!" great for the casual runners but doesn't quite inspire the more serious competitors.

The starting line is crowded but the roads in the Okinawa Ocean Expo Park All Japan Trim Marathon are wide, so the crowd thins out after the first kilometer or so. Even though this is considered a casual race the course is a difficult one as very little of the course is level making maintaining a pace a challenging task.

Water stations are frequent and are maintained by locals. If you are running one of the longer distances the crowds of people (from the shorter races) walking up the hill at the end can slow you down a bit. Most of the course runs along the coastline, so the scenery is quite beautiful. At the end of the race runners receive nice beach towels instead of the customary t-shirts.

There are four different courses, located in and around the Park:
1. Family enjoy park course(3.5km)
2. Row of Bise's fukugi course(5.8km)
3. Hamamoto and Bise course(9.97km)
4. Sesoko island course(19.2km)
