Unarizaki Observatory, Iriomote Island Okinawa Japan

This rather unknown place holds one of the best views on the island. The buildings on this hill were one a black pearl museum but are now abandoned, yet the scenery is still as good as it always. Overlooking the ocean on lookers can see the change of color from emerald green in the more shallow waters to a deep cobalt blue as the sea deepens.
Located not far from two of the best beaches on the island Hoshinohama Beach with its star shaped sand and the crescent shaped Tsukigahama Beach, Unarizaki Observatory is easy to stop by after a fun day of water sports and lounging in the sand. This part of the Iriomote is also home to the endangered Iriomote Wildcats, but probably won’t be seen as they are nocturnal creatures.
