Shintoshin Shopping Area, Naha Okinawa

Northeast of Kokusai Dōri is a relatively new fashionable shopping and commercial district called Shintoshin (Omoro machi Station). The area was formerly United States military housing and was returned to Okinawa in 1987. Major re-development started mid-1990’s with a vision of a modern box store and shopping mall area.

Frequented by young people, families and tourists, the area has large stores selling high end designer fashion goods and brand name items at stores such as; Tsutaya, Toys R Us, Best Denki (electronics store), Duty Free, Co-op market, San-A (super market). The area also has many restaurants and a movie theater. New buildings are being built all the time causing this shopping arera in Okinawa to grow fast.
