Located in the North of Iriomote Island is Okinawa’s highest waterfall with a height of over 80 meters. Loosely translated “Pinaisaara” means hanging white beard waterfall. This scenic place is another example of the abundant natural beauty on the island.

One of the best ways to see Pinaisaara Waterfall is to take a sightseeing boat that cruises up the Pinai River. Tour boat operators can arrange for transportation to departure points from hotels and ports on Iriomote Island.

Another popular way to get to the falls is to take a canoe tour up the Pina River. No matter the mode of transportation you choose it is about an hour walk through the jungle from the river so it is advisable to wear proper shoes for such and occasion avoiding open toed sandals and high heals is advised. After reaching Pinaisaara visitors can take a dip in the pond at the base of the cascading water.
