Nago Pineapple Park

One of the prize crops of Okinawa it is truly celebrated at Nago’s Pinapple park. This lovely little theme park actually makes the tangy fruit into something much more fun than you think it could be. Although the idea of the park is to educate vistors about the cultivation and refinement of the Okinawan pineapple many come for the great food offered up to taste.
Fist thing visitors experience is the “pinapple cart”, this little automitic cart is loved by most kids who ride it, it takes guest through a short tour and riders get to see pineapples growing along with other fruit in the park such as bromeliads, spathiphyllum, and anthuriums.
After the cart ride is over the best part of the tour starts, pineapple wine tasting followed by eating! Guests are encouraged to taste the various different types of pinapple wine produced at the park. Then comes the food area where there is more juice made from other fruits like mikan (tangeine), goya, lime, and so on. Also in the food area is the multitude of pineapple related foods like pineapple cake, pineapple pie, choclate pine apple, pineapple pound cake,…..get the idea?

After you are full from all the tasting you can move on over the the gift shop where they have a ton of qurkie little souviners to take home such as beauty products made with pineapple and pineapple charcoal, t-shirts, habu awamori, boxed foods, shisa dogs, goya fans, and other tourist trap items. Finally on the way out there is the all you can eat fresh pineapple area and an ice cream stand where pineapple is of course one of the choices.
