Miyako Island Beach Volleyball Tournament

Yonaha Maehama Beach in Miyakojima City plays host to the annual beach volleyball tournament on Miyako-jima Island. The tournament is an official event of the Japan Beach Volleyball Federation (JBVF).

The Miyako Island Beach Volleyball Tournament has been running for over 10 years and is quickly becoming a fixture of Miyako-jima's summer activities schedule. There are three competitive categories; Men's doubles, Women's doubles, and mixed foursome. Anyone older than high school students may participate. For the doubles events the rules of the tournament stipulate that participants must be members of the JBVF. Registration is done on a first-come basis, so it is recommended to sign up early. Qualifying rounds will be held, followed by a playoff tournament.
