Kingdom Village at Okinawa World

The area of Okianwa World known as Kingdom Village is a replica of a traditional Okinawa village. This historical village gives visitors an opportunity to gain hands on experience and observe many workshops featuring traditional crafts of Okinawa’s unique culture such as; glass blowing, pottery, weaving, dyeing, paper making, sugar cane processing, the making of musical instruments, and brewing. Beyond traditional Okinawan hand crafts and cultural activities Kingdom Village also gives guests an opportunity to sample some of Okinawa’s delicious and distinctive cuisine

One of the special features of Okinawa World’s Kingdom Village is the more than 100 year old houses that were moved to the site of the theme park. Four of the houses have now been designated cultural treasures and are cared under Japanese law as official historical objects. Oddly enough besides the four houses that have gained this rare historical designation there is also a traditional Okinawa toilet that shares this distinction. Although the toilet is no longer in use it sits outside and visitors can learn how pigs use to share the facilities with their human owners.
