Because the some of the worst parts of the battle of Okinawa were fought in the south part of the main Okinawa Island, much of this areas sightseeing spots are dedicated to important war memorials such as The Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum, Okinawa Peace Memorial Hall, Himeyuri Peace Museum.
