Itoman Peaceful Illumination Festival, Okinawa Japan

 

Over 600,000 light bulbs are lit up in Itoman City where the Battle of Okinawa came to an end. Besides being an amazing spectacle to see during the holiday season this event is dedicated to spreading the message of peace from Okinawa to the world

The lights shine from mid December through to the beginning of January at the Itoman Wine Farm (Itoman Kanko Noen) from 18:00 – 22:00 and each evening at 20:00 they are turned off for a "starlight wink" prayer and then lit back up again. Admission is 200 yen
