Ishigaki Island Marathon, Okinawa Japan

During the coolest time of year on the Okinawa Islands Ishigaki-jima city hosts the Ishigaki Island Marathon. This annual event offers three race distances to choose from;

- Full Marathon: 42.195 km
- Half Marathon: 21.0975 km
- 10K Run: 10 km

Because these races take place at the end of January runners get to take in scenery on the island from the best time of year. The purple cherry blossoms start to bloom giving a stark contrast to the greens of the landscape and blue of the ocean that the running courses pass through.
