The town of Chatan (北谷町) Okinawa has a population of of about 26,500 people yet it is one of the most popular destination in the Okinawa Islands . The town is divided up into three districts: Kitamae, Mihama, and Sunabe. The town is located along one of Okinawa’s main highways Route 58 and not far away from U.S. military bases Kadena Air Base, Camp Lester and Camp Foster.

Chatan is continually expanding as more busineses and comercial activities come to this busteling little beach town. Each year sees the opeing of new hotels, shopping complexes, recreation facitities, and tourist attractions. This area of central Okinawa is also a very popular destination for SCUBA Divers an surfers looking for excitement.
