Tsunami Warning - Okinawa

 Japan Meterological Agency has issued a warning of a 3 meters tsunami (about 10 ft) or higher along its northern Pacific Coast following the devastating earthquake in Chile.

More than 300 people have been killed after a huge earthquake struck the Chilean coast.

Tsunami warning in Hawaii was lifted earlier.

 

**Evacuate from the seashore immediately to the safe places near the above coasts.
Tsunami attentions are in effect at some of the other coasts now.

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit off Japan's southern coast early Saturday at 5:31am.
Shaking Okinawa and nearby islands like Miyako Island, Yaeyama Islands where a tsunami warning was briefly issued

Magnitude 6.9
Latitude 26.3N
Longitude 128.2E

The Japan Meteorological Agency later lifted the warning within two hours after observing only a small swelling of tide.

The Earliest Cherry Blossoms in Japan

 “The earliest cherry blossoms in Japan!”…with this catch phrase, “The 32nd Mt. Motobu Yaedake Cherry Blossom Festival” started in Motobu Town today.  The festival is held until February 7, 2010.

On the road to the peak of Mt Yeadake, cherry blossom showed strong signs of blossoming, causing many visitors to get their cameras out. 

In most arreas, only 10-20 percent of the cherry blossoms are in bloom, but in some places you can find 70 percent of the cherry blossoms in bloom. 

First Jerk Chicken Restaurant in Okinawa - OTO-NARI

 Ah chicken. Who doesn’t love the tasty little peckers?

Well we didn’t think it was possible but they have managed to make chicken EVEN BETTER.
I’m talking of course about the first Jerked Chicken restaurant in Okinawa. The restaurant “OTO-NARI” opened on the Okiei Street in Naha on Dec 7 and is the first restaurant in Okinawa to sell jerked chicken since…ever.

I went to Shurijo Castle Park to see its New Year’s Celebration on January 2.

I went to Shurijo Castle Park to see the New Year’s Celebration on January 2.

This traditional “New Year’s Ceremony” was originally held early in the morning of New Year’s Day in the Ryukyu Dynasty.  The Ryukyu King, royal princes, aji local chieftains, sanshikan three ministers, the other royal government officials attended this solemn Chinese-style ritual conducted in Chinese language.
