Kato Shokudo (Diner) in Ginowan

 I would like to continue to introduce nice restaurants for those who travel to Okinawa.

My recommendation today is….“Kato Shokudo”
 If you like French cuisine or Italian cuisine, “Kato Shokudo” is what you’ve been looking for.

Kato Shokudo is a French cuisine restaurant, but many people think it is also close to Italian cuisine.  My friend accompanied me, who is a real gourmet, said “Every single dish is so delicious!”

Everyone has his or her own taste, but if you like French cuisine or Italian cuisine, you should check out “Kato Shokudo.”

Kato Shokudo is located near Convention Center and Laguna Garden Hotel in Ginowan City, so it has good access for guests from the hotel.

A couple from Nagoya run this small place.  It has 6-7 seats at the counter, 2 tables for two, and the Japanese-style tatami room with 2 opened foothold seats (horigotatsu-style) for six persons each.

Far from our image of “Kato Shokudo (Kato Diner),” French-style interior design makes this place a real chic adult restaurant.   

Pork and Pizza are their specialties but every other menu seems to be their specialty because of the exquisite taste.  Very nice French cuisine created using Okinawan ingredients.  

“Kato Shokudo” is a very popular restaurant, so early reservation are highly recommended.   

Allow me to show you the menus my friend and I enjoyed for example.

Firstly “Marinated broccoli with anchobi and garlic”

With the first dish, my eyes widened.  It is so good!  Broccoli is superbly matched with anchobi and garlic sause.

Another dish from appetizer is “Shirasu (Dried Whitebait) Bruschetta” 

This is my most favorite dish!  What a great idea of cooking Shirasu so delicious!  

“Chicken Thigh Confit” from the main dish

Crispy and spicy.  Tender and juicy chicken.  Marinated carrot on the side is also tasty with good sweetness. 

Then, we cannot miss their specialty pizza!

The king of pizza, “Margherita”

Yes!  Sticky pizza and delicious tomato sauce!

Other kinds of pizza are also available.

Lastly the dessert is “Chocolate Terrine Served with Custard Cream Sauce”

A rich and moist chocolate cake.  Sweet fit for adults and perfectly balanced with sweet custard cream sauce.  

Crème Brulee also looks good.  I should try for the next time.  

With one glass of soft drink for each, it totally cost 4,000yen for two.  Isn’t it reasonable for such a delicious and filling cuisine?
