Another Typhoon, Malou Warning

Okinawa will again become the target of a tropical system this weekend.
Typhoon Malou, the 9th tropical cyclone in Japan this year, formed Friday afternoon about 470 kilometers southeast of Okinawa, Japan, and was moving northwest at a speed of 36 kilometers an hour.

The strong winds and torrential rain will persist into August 4th to 5th as Malou passes by.The winds will be of minimal tropical storm force, but they will still be capable of causing some tree damage and power outages.

Typhoon Malou

This heavy rain might threaten to trigger flooding in Okinawa, especially since the islands where just inundated by Typhoon Kompasu on Tuesday.

Malou will press northwestward through the East China Sea this weekend. The tropical storm should then reach the Yellow Sea early next week.
