2009 Okinawa Traditional Karatedo World Tournament

The 2009 Okinawa Traditional Karate World Tournament has started at Okinawa Prefectural Hall of Martial Arts in Naha city.

Opening ceremonies and demonstrations took place on August 14th in the  afternoon at the Okinawa Prefectural Martial Arts Hall, adjacent to Onoyama Park, with full karatedo and kobudo competitions Saturday.

About 5,000 participants joined the tournament from 43 countries from all over the world.
The program is consisting of 5 parts which are the opening/closing ceremony, Okinawa Traditional Karatedo & Kobudo seminar, demonstration, competition and the reception. The seminar is designed for international participants and enthusiasts who would like to learn about the traditional techniques and the history of Karatedo and Kobudo.
